About Us

Sullivan Sanctuary and GOBIES Legacy Rescue began as two separate missions with the same heartbeat: saving the overlooked, the forgotten, and the animals who had nowhere else to go. For years, Casey and Lindsay worked in their own towns, each rescuing dogs, cats, bunnies, and any soul who needed a safe place to land.

Over time, it became clear that our missions were stronger together. We officially joined forces, combining our compassion, our experience, and our determination to give every animal — no matter their background — a real chance at safety and love.

Right now, we’re still operating from two different locations, but our shared goal is to expand and come together on one property. Being at the same sanctuary space will allow us to rescue more animals, provide better medical and behavioral support, and eventually open our doors to farm animals who need sanctuary too.

Until then, we continue working side by side, saving lives every day, and building the future we know is possible.

Reviews

out of 5 stars
I recently adopted a cat from Sullivan Sanctuary in Brunswick. I highly recommend this place for an adoption. The person I met with is very dedicated to every animal that she takes in. She also went above and beyond to make the adoption happen, followed up with me to make sure the cat and I were compatible, and was very responsive to my text messages/ phone calls.

What makes Sullivan Sanctuary of Maine different from other shelters?

Unlike traditional shelters, we focus on animals that are often overlooked—especially special needs cats and disadvantaged animals. We also provide emergency care when other shelters are full, and offer a permanent sanctuary for those who cannot be adopted.

Can I adopt an animal from Sullivan Sanctuary of Maine?

Yes, some of our rescued animals are adoptable once they are healthy and ready for a new home. However, many with lifelong special needs remain with us as permanent residents, receiving ongoing care and love in our sanctuary.

How can I support the sanctuary?

You can help by donating, sponsoring an animal, volunteering, or spreading awareness of our mission. Every contribution—big or small—directly improves the lives of animals who might otherwise have nowhere to turn.
